Novelist Bev Thomas joins WPF Therapy February Reading Group
This unique reading group is now in its 15th year and there are still many more pages to turn. We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity to explore, examine and enjoy a range of books. Our presenters have been stimulating and challenging and have introduced us to new delights or opened fresh vistas onto pre-loved favourites.
Anyone with a love of reading, an interest in considering psychoanalytic perspectives in fiction and biographies and a weakness for snacks and lively discussion is very welcome to come along. We ask only that you read the book before attending.
Jan McHugh, a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist trained at WPF Therapy, has proposed the book A Good Enough Mother by Bev Thomas and we are delighted that the author will be joining us for this group. Bev is a clinical psychologist with twenty-five years’ experience of working with patients and NHS staff. She has an in-depth knowledge of clinical work with complex patients, the nature of trauma and the workings of an NHS psychology department.
A selection of reviews for this debut novel.
- “The interactions between personal and professional caused much contemplation, especially as Thomas draws the worst fears of both parents and therapists into one story, unveiling them slowly as the chapters develop.” The Psychologist.
- “An intelligent novel on the dilemmas of the therapist-client relationship and good parenting.” The Observer
